We packed light for the trip to Texas a couple of weeks ago, having finally figured out that we’d be sent back with a ton of random cargo.
This time?
A bunch of cute new clothes, including Cars pajamas and matching slippers. Way, way too cute. (And perfectly timed, since the weather cooled off quite a bit all of a sudden.)
Football gnomes from our creative shopping addict uncle! (Hey Chiefs? You could totally put this lil’ guy in and he’d probably perform better on defense than what ya’ got goin’ on right now. Just sayin’.)
And, my favorite…
VERY important parenting advice. Because although our children might have entered the world in Missour-ah, we will eventually migrate back to the Lone Star State.
I’m already sure to practice new vocabulary words with an accent, just so Monkey knows how to properly pronounce pie (PAH) and y’all. Also, we play the Aggie War Hymn over and over again to the new fetus so he/she will know what’s really going on. (And by we I mean me, because if my husband had his way our second born’s first words would be something about booming too soon. Or something. Ahem.)

Those are some adorable Texas tokens y’all were gifted.
Yeehaw.
Toddlers in slippers are so cute. Great photos!
Sooo last minute.
But thanks.
Oh my, cute slippers! Also, what happened TO YOUR BABY? Why did he get so big? Unacceptable.
I KNOW. I had to make another one.
haha that magazine is the best!!!! And that boy is too cute! My daughter would kill for those jammies and slippers. Sorry but I love everything about this post esp the shopping addicted uncle! We all need one of those! And my husband is scared to death of gnomes!!!! LOVE IT
I’m a new gnome collector. We have a good group going on. I will be THAT lady one day. Texas Monthly is one of my favorite magazines, they’ve got some great writing.
I saw that Cars pajama picture the other day and thought it was too cute! His face is the best.
He’s got a roly poly dimply face. He gets whatever he wants, usually. It’s awful.
Going visiting and coming back with awesome pajamas? Sounds perfect to me! I love Texas.
Those gnomes are flippin’ fun! And even though I’m a Michigander, I feel like I need to read how to raise a Texan…My little gal already seems to have some cowgirl in her. I need to teach her to say “ya’ll” stat.
I think being a Texan is all about appreciating freedom, family, friends and good food.
It wouldn’t be bad if we all had a little Texas in us.
Hey I’m from KY and I can throw “ya’ll” around like the best of ‘em. My kids have a little twang to them too
those gnomes gave me a chuckle
I love Kentucky! It’s a beautiful state with a great twang.
I do rather like those slippers! We need ones with grips though (and I’ve been searching for Cars ones). The gnomes are making me giggle. I think I would talk to them and hear them respond in gnomey voices. You know what I mean (Right?).
We talk in gnomey voices all the time round here. Is there something wrong with that?
Those slippers are from Wally World, and they do have little grippers!
Gosh, I missed that cute red-headed kid!! ::))))
Okay . . . I snorted at the football gnomes. I’ve never seen such a thing. Too funny. And wait till your parents want to downside. Every trip back down involves trips to the attic and boxes to pack away in the car. (or in the nearest dumpster.)
Such a cute and cheeky post! Sometimes I feel like such a boring American just being a West Coaster.
I want some Cars slippers please. I’ll even say y’all for them.
I have to read that article. I NEED to know what it says! My whole perspective (meaning all preconceived notions because I’ve never been there) on Texas changed because of Friday Night Lights. Texas forever.
I think we have those same slippers on a build-a-bear! Too cute! And I LOVE the gnomes…gotta get me some of them.
You know, I’m an uprooted Texan too and I’m still ticked off about it (3 years later). See you BACK in The Lone Star state someday!!
And I need that magazine for my youngest who was born here in Louisiana… ;P
Love that newspaper. Awesome
