King is my all-time favorite author. I recognize his voice immediately and it’s almost soothing. I’ve read most of his stuff…probably why I have anxiety issues stemming from an overactive imagination.
Totally understand. I tried to read Bag of Bones while I was home alone once, and I nearly called 911 to have someone snuggle next to me until I fell asleep.
I’m not quite ready for the JFK book. I own it. But I’ve gotten (FINALLY) into Full Dark No Stars. (note. by “gotten into” I mean “Found Time to read”) I Love love LOVE Stephen King.
I follow what you read now all the time but I can’t keep up with you. If you like scary, Scott Smith wrote The Ruins. They made it into an awful movie but the book is awesome.
Thanks for the suggestion! If I’m lucky, I can get through one or two a week. I read very fast though, so fast I was made fun of in school. THANKS BEAU HALE I’M TALKING TO YOU. Anyway. Ahem.
I secretly (ok, no so secretly) hate ebooks. The weight in my hands, the smell of the pages, the crinkle of the dust jackets – I need those for my experience to be complete.
There’s just so much out there to do and see and learn and eat. Add in my Twitter obsession and the return to blogging and I’m happy to retreat to my pillow fortress to escape into a book or two! Also, it helps when I’m ate up with anxiety waiting for things to happen.
You’re so good. Why? Well, there are several reasons. But namely, that you are such a dedicated reader. I don’t read books. Like, not at all. And I know that’s not very smart of me.
I don’t think it’s a matter of being smart about it, goobs. It’s just my thing. I just really like stories and watching how some people weave words together to put a thought on paper.
Like, I would marry him. If I weren’t already married. And he weren’t already married. And he weren’t so creepy looking.
But if he asked, I’d still probably consider it.
He was my first book crush after my childhood Judy Blume/Nancy Drew obsession. So yes yes yes anything by him. Always. He is so smart, and weird, and he GETS INSIDE PEOPLE’S HEADS – not just to the scary part but to the part that is too big or abstract or embarrassing or real to speak out loud.
In other words, I’m a fan. Can’t wait to read 11/22/63.
And we shall commiserate after…
You know when people ask you to name 3 people you’d want to have dinner with, living or dead? And most people are like: Jesus, grandma and Martin Luther King Jr? I’m all: Stephen King, Zooey Deschanel and The Bloggess. For real. And you can come too.
Definitely read 11/22/63. I’m about halfway through right now, and it’s one of his best.
It’s no wonder you and T get along. I haven’t read a Stephen King book since high school, I think. But we’ll always have the Hunger Games.

The Lonely Polygamist is so good. I loved it. I enjoyed his earlier novel, The Miracle Life of Edgar Mint even more!
That’s second in the line…if I ever get time to finish the King book!
I don’t read Stephen King because I am a big, big, big scaredy cat. I do watch “I Survived”, though, which is a like a scary movie sometimes…

It’s very good so far. I wish I had a whole day to just sit there and read it! On a beach. With several fruity umbrella drinks.
I haven’t heard of any of those. Well, I’ve heard of Stephen King but his books scare me silly.
My librarian is really good at suggesting things I’ll like. She’s very rarely wrong. Have you read The Night Circus yet? That’s a great one!
I read 11/22/63 a few months ago. Loved the premise and cried like a baby at the end. Everyone should have a love like that
Love? Did you just post a spoiler?
Nooooo… *hanging head in shame*…. Okay, maybe a little.
I haven’t read a King book in a long time! I need to pick another one up.
It’s like that perfect sweatshirt you store in the back of the closet when spring comes. Fits just right the next time, and smells so familiar.

This reminds me I need to read actual books, not just e-books.

Haven’t heard of those. Except Stephen King but he scares me. No wonder you’re quiet lately–you’re being a bookworm again.

This reminds me that I need to read more. Like, an actual book, not a blog or an ebook (ick).
Liz Jostess, you are the sexiest non-reader I know.
XOXO
You rarely regret the time you spend with a book.

I love reading but I think your list of books would give me nightmares.
It might. But really, none of it is nearly as scary as what’s on tv. On the news.
I LOVE STEPHEN KING!
